## What it does

This skill provides structured guidelines based on HubSpot's AEO guide to help brands earn citations in generative search engines. It optimizes text around three core signals: consensus across credible sources, information gain through original data, and clean entity structure. The focus rests on semantic triples with an explicit subject, verb, and object.

The repository includes markdown templates for category explainers, product feature pages, and comparison tables. Paragraphs follow a feature-how-outcome sequence that keeps claims testable and compact.

Because `user-invocable` is set to `false`, Claude Code loads the skill autonomously during writing tasks rather than via a manual slash command. This setup demands factual input upfront, since vague marketing copy breaks the triple structure.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill aeo-optimization -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/aeo-optimization/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/aeo-optimization/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill aeo-optimization -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/aeo-optimization/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill aeo-optimization -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/aeo-optimization/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install alinaqi/maggy aeo-optimization
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/aeo-optimization/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill aeo-optimization -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/alinaqi/maggy --path skills/aeo-optimization
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/aeo-optimization/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill aeo-optimization -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/alinaqi/maggy/tree/HEAD/skills/aeo-optimization/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- rewrite product features into subject-verb-object semantic triples
- generate comparison tables with sourced proof for AI engines
- structure category explainer pages to earn citations in Perplexity and ChatGPT
- turn generic paragraphs into concrete feature-how-outcome blocks

## Example prompts
- Rewrite this feature description using semantic triples for AI search optimization
- Draft a category explainer page for our analytics tool using the AEO template
- Structure this competitor comparison table with clear fit statements

# AI Engine Optimization (AEO) Skill

**Purpose:** Optimize content for AI engines (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews) so your brand gets cited in AI-generated answers.

**Source:** Based on [HubSpot's AEO Guide](https://www.hubspot.com/aeo) and industry best practices.

## Why AEO Matters Now

│  ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────  │
│  Impressions ≠ Clicks anymore.                                 │
│ AI engines compile answers from multiple sources. │
│ More buyer journey happens inside chat experiences. │
│ 58% of Google searches = zero clicks (AI overviews). │

```
**Key Stats:**
- 70% of consumers use ChatGPT for searches
- 47% of Google queries show AI overviews
- Average ChatGPT prompt: 23 words (vs 4.2 for Google)
- AEO market: $886M (2024) → $7.3B (2031)
## How AI Engines Choose Answers
AI engines use three main signals to select content for answers:
### 1. Consensus
Facts that appear across multiple credible sources get trusted and reused.
**How to build consensus:**
- Repeat key facts consistently across your own pages
- Use same terminology as industry leaders
- Link to and from authoritative external sources
- Create internal content clusters that reinforce each other
### 2. Information Gain
