## What it does

The skill acts as a router. You describe the task, and it maps your intent to one of five specialist instructions: configuring a replication agent, activating or deactivating content, using the Replication API in code, diagnosing distribution problems, or an orchestrator for multi-step work. The agent then reads the matching `SKILL.md` and follows the workflow defined there.

What sits inside: an intent table linking to the sub-skills, plus shared references on agent types (default, Dispatcher Flush, reverse, static), FIFO queue mechanics and retries, AEM 6.5 LTS guardrails around service users and timeouts, and a quick reference for `Replicator`, `ReplicationOptions` and `ReplicationStatus`. Common paths are spelled out too — first-time environment setup, production incident response, migration preparation.

One hard limit: the skill requires AEM 6.5 LTS or Adobe Managed Services. It does not work with AEM as a Cloud Service, where Sling Distribution API replaces replication agents. Planning a move to the cloud? Keep agent-specific coupling out of your code from the start, or the migration gets harder later.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add adobe/skills --skill aem-replication -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/aem-replication/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/aem-replication/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add adobe/skills --skill aem-replication -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/aem-replication/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add adobe/skills --skill aem-replication -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/aem-replication/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install adobe/skills aem-replication
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/aem-replication/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add adobe/skills --skill aem-replication -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/adobe/skills --path plugins/aem/6.5-lts/skills/aem-replication
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/aem-replication/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add adobe/skills --skill aem-replication -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/adobe/skills/tree/HEAD/plugins/aem/6.5-lts/skills/aem-replication/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- configure an author-to-publish replication agent
- publish a page or asset with Quick Publish
- find out why a replication queue is blocked
- call replication from a custom servlet or workflow step
- prepare agent config for a move to AEM as a Cloud Service

## Example prompts
- set up a default replication agent for a new publish instance
- the replication queue is blocked, help me find the cause
- show me how to activate content with the Replication API in a servlet

# AEM 6.5 LTS Replication

Route user requests to the appropriate specialist skill based on intent.

## Intent Router

| User Intent | Skill | Path |
|---|---|---|
| Configure replication agents (default, dispatcher flush, reverse replication) | Configure Replication Agent | [configure-replication-agent/SKILL.md](./configure-replication-agent/SKILL.md) |
| Activate or deactivate content using UI or workflows | Replicate Content | [replicate-content/SKILL.md](./replicate-content/SKILL.md) |
| Use Replication API programmatically in custom code | Replication API | [replication-api/SKILL.md](./replication-api/SKILL.md) |
| Diagnose blocked queues, connectivity issues, or distribution problems | Troubleshoot Replication | [troubleshoot-replication/SKILL.md](./troubleshoot-replication/SKILL.md) |
| End-to-end workflows: new environment setup, incident response, performance optimization | Replication Orchestrator | [replication-orchestrator/SKILL.md](./replication-orchestrator/SKILL.md) |

## How to Use

1. Match the user's request to one row in the Intent Router table above.
2. Read the linked SKILL.md for that specialist skill.
3. Follow the workflow and guidance defined in that skill.
4. For complex scenarios spanning multiple skills (e.g., configure agent then troubleshoot), start with the primary intent and cross-reference as needed.

## Skill Overview

### Configure Replication Agent

Set up and configure replication agents for:
- **Default agents**: Author to Publish content distribution
- **Dispatcher Flush agents**: Cache invalidation
- **Reverse replication**: Publish to Author user-generated content flow
- **Multiple publish instances**: Load balancing and high availability

**When to use:** First-time setup, adding new publish instances, reconfiguring agents

### Replicate Content

Activate and deactivate content through:
- **Quick Publish**: Simple one-click activation
- **Manage Publication**: Advanced scheduling and approval workflows
- **Tree Activation**: Hierarchical bulk publishing
- **Package Manager**: Specific content set distribution
