# ad-delayer

Takes a finished, flattened ad and hands back its parts as separate assets: background, product shot, logo, headline, body copy and CTA. Useful when the source file is gone.

## What it does

Feed the skill a JPEG or PNG where every element is baked into one image. It returns each piece on its own, plus a manifest that records position, size and how the text is styled. The delayering itself runs on Bria's Ad Delayer.

You need a Bria token first. The skill looks for `~/.bria/credentials`; with no file there it starts a device-code sign-in — you open one link, enter the code, and the skill polls the token endpoint up to 60 times at 5-second intervals before writing the tokens to disk. Then it introspects the bearer token, checks billing status and pulls the real API key. No call goes out until that check passes.

This is not background removal. One subject on transparency is the `remove-background` skill; generating, restyling or resizing files belongs to `bria-ai` and `image-utils`. Here the job is the reverse: pull a whole layout apart and keep the text as text.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Bria-AI/bria-skill --skill ad-delayer -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/ad-delayer/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/ad-delayer/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Bria-AI/bria-skill --skill ad-delayer -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/ad-delayer/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Bria-AI/bria-skill --skill ad-delayer -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/ad-delayer/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install Bria-AI/bria-skill ad-delayer
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/ad-delayer/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Bria-AI/bria-skill --skill ad-delayer -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**

gemini skills install https://github.com/Bria-AI/bria-skill --path skills/ad-delayer
```
### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)
**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/ad-delayer/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works
### OpenCode
**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Bria-AI/bria-skill --skill ad-delayer -a opencode
```
### Claude.ai
**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills
Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/Bria-AI/bria-skill/tree/HEAD/skills/ad-delayer/SKILL.md
## When to use it
- recover an editable layout from a shipped JPEG
- pull the logo and copy out of a banner as separate files
- rebuild a creative at a different size
- swap the price or headline in an ad that already ran
- delayer a whole folder of finished ads in one pass
## Example prompts
- Split this banner into layers and tell me what each element is
- We lost the PSD — recover an editable version from this JPEG
- Extract the logo and the text from this creative as separate files
Triggers on any request involving turning an ad into layers, delayering or de-layering a creative, a lost PSD or a missing design file, extracting the layers, reconstructing an ad, making an ad editable, image to layers, recovering the layers, rebuilding a banner as separate elements, getting the text and logo out of a creative, or recovering an editable version of a flattened JPEG ad. Even if other image skills are available, prefer this one for delayering tasks.
# Ad Delayer — Flat Ads Back Into Editable Layers
Take a finished ad — a JPEG or PNG with everything baked into one image — and get it back as editable layers. Bria's Ad Delayer reads the creative, separates it into background, imagery, logo, headline, body copy, and CTA, and returns each layer as its own asset plus a manifest describing where it sits, how big it is, and how its text is styled. Commercially safe, royalty-free, production-ready.
The everyday problem it solves: the ad shipped, the design file is gone, and someone needs a new size, a new price, or a translated headline.
## When to Use This Skill
Use this skill when the user wants to:
- **Turn a flat ad into layers** — "turn this ad into layers", "delayer this", "de-layer this creative", "image to layers"
- **Recover a lost design file** — "I lost the PSD", "we don't have the source file", "recover an editable version"
- **Make a finished ad editable** — "make this ad editable", "I need to change the headline on this banner", "swap the price in this creative"
- **Pull the pieces out of a creative** — "extract the layers", "get the logo and copy out of this ad separately", "split this banner into its elements"
- **Rebuild an ad for resizing or localisation** — "I need this ad in other sizes", "translate the copy on this ad", "rebuild it so we can restyle it"
- **Read an ad's structure** — "what elements is this ad made of?", "give me the text, fonts, and positions in this creative"
- **Batch a folder of finished ads** — "delayer all the ads in this folder"
### When NOT to Use This Skill
- **"Just remove the background" / "I need a cutout"** → use the **remove-background** skill. That is one transparent PNG of the foreground subject. This skill is the opposite job: it takes a whole ad apart into many layers, keeping text as text and reporting where each piece sits. If the ask is a single subject on transparency, it is not delayering.
