## What it does

The skill tells the agent how to pull Aceternity UI components in through the shadcn CLI and how to debug that integration when it breaks. It covers registering the `@aceternity` namespace in `components.json`, the add commands for individual components, and the component groups: backgrounds and effects, cards, hero sections, parallax, 3D. Nothing ships as an npm package — source files land in your repo, so you can edit them in place.

You need Next.js 13+ (App Router recommended), React 16.8+, Tailwind CSS v4+ and Node.js 20+ with bun, npm or pnpm. Animations run on Framer Motion, and the skill pins the versions it expects: motion 12.23.25, clsx 2.1.1, tailwind-merge 3.4.0. If the registry route fails, there is a manual path: install `motion clsx tailwind-merge`, add the `cn` helper to `lib/utils.ts`, then copy the component source from the library site.

One section deals with supply chain risk. Setup runs remote code (`create-next-app`, `shadcn init`, `shadcn add`), so the skill suggests blocking post-install scripts with `npm config set ignore-scripts true`, waiting 7 days before adopting a new package version, and scoring packages with Socket CLI. Worth heeding before you drop components into someone else's repo.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill aceternity-ui -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/aceternity-ui/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/aceternity-ui/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill aceternity-ui -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/aceternity-ui/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill aceternity-ui -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/aceternity-ui/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install secondsky/claude-skills aceternity-ui
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/aceternity-ui/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill aceternity-ui -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/secondsky/claude-skills --path plugins/aceternity-ui/skills/aceternity-ui
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/aceternity-ui/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill aceternity-ui -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/secondsky/claude-skills/tree/HEAD/plugins/aceternity-ui/skills/aceternity-ui/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- build a hero section with an animated background
- add a 3D hover effect to a product card
- wire the Aceternity registry into the shadcn CLI
- fix a failing `shadcn add` for an Aceternity component
- add parallax and reveal animations to a landing page

## Example prompts
- install the background-beams component from Aceternity and show me how to drop it into a hero section
- set up the @aceternity registry in components.json for my Next.js project
- build a 3D card with Tailwind and Framer Motion using Aceternity code
