## What it does

The skill guides research planning, from shaping research questions and search terms to outlining a document. It covers formats such as research papers, literature reviews, theses and conference papers.

Its search workflow includes academic databases such as Google Scholar, IEEE Xplore, PubMed and the ACM Digital Library. It advises checking a source’s review status, author credentials and publication venue, then formatting citations in IEEE style. arXiv is also listed for preprints, so check each source’s publication status separately.

For a research paper, the suggested outline runs from the abstract and introduction through findings and discussion to references. The skill also checks whether in-text citations match the reference list and whether the document follows the proposed structure. The stated source-coverage target for a research paper is 15–20 works.
