## What it does

The skill stops the agent from editing the AARM layer from memory, pointing it directly to `docs/aarm-dev.md`. The security subsystem covers roughly 15 packages under `aarm/`, along with wiring in `engine/policy.go` and CLI commands. Each request flows through normalization, identity gating, context accumulation, PDP evaluation, decision branching, and receipt generation.

Three invariants protect the system from silent regressions. Receipt and context hashes follow strict consensus formats, so touching field order breaks existing chains. The `aarm` package stays decoupled from `cli` and `storage`, passing CLI-shaped side effects only through dedicated hooks. User files cannot disable built-in rules, and block decisions always take precedence over allow.

Changes to policy schemas require running `make generate-schema`. The agent finishes by running `make test` and `make lint`. Any update that affects user-facing commands or YAML structure requires updating `docs/security-policy.md` in the same change.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add safedep/gryph --skill aarm-policy-layer -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/aarm-policy-layer/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/aarm-policy-layer/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add safedep/gryph --skill aarm-policy-layer -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/aarm-policy-layer/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add safedep/gryph --skill aarm-policy-layer -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/aarm-policy-layer/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install safedep/gryph aarm-policy-layer
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/aarm-policy-layer/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add safedep/gryph --skill aarm-policy-layer -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/safedep/gryph --path .claude/skills/aarm-policy-layer
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/aarm-policy-layer/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add safedep/gryph --skill aarm-policy-layer -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- wire a mediator dependency via MediatorOption in aarm/check.go
- modify CEL policy conditions without breaking consensus receipt hashes
- keep aarm packages decoupled from storage and cli imports
- update policy schemas using make generate-schema

## Example prompts
- Add a new CEL condition to the Gryph policy decision point
- Wire a new mediator dependency in engine/policy.go and run linting
- Refactor the identity gate under aarm/ using the audit hooks

# AARM / Policy Layer

The full, current guide is `docs/aarm-dev.md`. It is the single source of truth for this task. Read it and follow it step by step.

Do not change the AARM layer from memory. The layer spans about 15 packages under `aarm/`, plus the wiring in `engine/policy.go` and the commands in `cli/policy.go`. The request flow chains a normalize step, an identity gate, the context accumulator, the PDP, a decision branch, and a receipt write. A change in one step can break another. The doc maps the flow, the packages, and the extension points.

## How to use this skill

1. Read `docs/aarm-dev.md` in full.
2. Use the package map to find the right package for your change.
3. Add a Mediator dependency through a `MediatorOption` in `aarm/check.go`, then wire it in `LoadPolicyMediator` in `engine/policy.go`.
4. Run `make test` and `make lint` before you finish. Run `make generate-schema` after any change to the policy schema or a payload type.

## Invariants

Three invariants break silently if you miss them. The doc explains all three.

1. The receipt and context hashes are consensus formats. A change to field order or canonicalization breaks every existing chain. Update the verifier and the property tests in the same change.
2. The `aarm` package stays decoupled from `storage` and `cli`. Carry CLI-shaped side effects through the hooks (`DeferralHook`, `ApprovalAuditHook`, `IdentityAuditHook`). Do not add a `storage` or `cli` import to `aarm`.
3. Policy resolution is additive and same-user safe. `disabled:` is scoped to the file that declares the rule, block always beats allow, and no user file can disable a built-in. Keep these when you touch `Loader.Load` or the merge, so an installed policy file can never remove the built-in rules or another file's rules. See `docs/security-policy-threat-model.md`.

## Keep the doc correct

The doc is the source of truth, so keep it accurate. If you find the code no longer matches the doc, update `docs/aarm-dev.md` in the same change. Do not fork the guidance into this skill.

## Keep the user-facing policy doc fresh
