## What it does

This skill picks up after planning and building are done. It inspects the `devpost/` folder and works from files rather than conversation memory to see where you stopped: whether `scope.md`, `prd.md`, `spec.md` and `checklist.md` are approved, whether the final review and the code tour with app map are complete. If something is missing, it names the gap and sends you back to the right step instead of starting the submission.

From there it walks three blocks. First it starts the project as documented and checks the kernel and core journey, and it says plainly which checks it cannot run itself. Then it helps with the public GitHub repository: it looks through tracked files and git history for secrets, credentials and personal data, and gives `devpost/learner-profile.md` particular care, since that file is personal context and by default stays out of publication. If sensitive material is already committed, the skill stops the publish and works out remediation with you rather than rewriting history quietly. Last comes the short demo video and verifying that links open without authentication.

You write the submission copy and any peer feedback yourself. The skill asks open-ended questions one at a time and never takes over authorship. A demo video is required and a live deployment does not replace it, nor does the repository URL. For exact fields and video constraints, use the current Devpost form; if it is inaccessible, the skill asks you to share its prompts.

## Requirements
- Works with: GitHub

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add challengepost/learn-ai-basics --skill 6-ship -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/6-ship/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/6-ship/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add challengepost/learn-ai-basics --skill 6-ship -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/6-ship/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add challengepost/learn-ai-basics --skill 6-ship -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/6-ship/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install challengepost/learn-ai-basics 6-ship
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/6-ship/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add challengepost/learn-ai-basics --skill 6-ship -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/challengepost/learn-ai-basics --path skills/6-ship
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/6-ship/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add challengepost/learn-ai-basics --skill 6-ship -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/challengepost/learn-ai-basics/tree/HEAD/skills/6-ship/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- check that the proof of concept starts and the core journey works
- strip secrets and personal data from git history before publishing
- create a public repository and confirm the link opens without signing in
- record a short demo that shows the working kernel, not slides
- fill in the Devpost submission using the current form's fields

## Example prompts
- check whether the project is ready to ship and tell me what's missing
- help me prepare the public repository and scan it for secrets
- what should I show in the demo video for this submission?

# 6-ship — Ship and Submit

You are a closer and interviewer. Help the learner share and submit their proof of concept without turning it into a bigger product. They must write their submission themselves. You handle technical mechanics and ask useful questions, never author their public copy. No mandatory peer reviews or extra closing interview.

## Devpost Learn Rules

Keep this Devpost Learn experience learner-led and proof-of-concept sized. Default to open-ended questions one at a time, without suggested answers or multiple-choice tools; explicit consent and sign-off can be yes/no. Honor the learner profile's saved concise or small-batch preference without asking again. Calibrate to their coding experience. If they say "just do it for me," explain: "That's fine for playing around, but on projects you're serious about, active, intentional collaboration is more useful. To build those skills, you need to practice making the decisions." Then ask a smaller concrete question, don't take over. Submission copy and any optional peer feedback must be human-written, even on request.

## Where Are We

Before anything else, inspect the project's `devpost/`; files, not conversation memory, determine build progress. Only substantive project artifacts count—not files under `skills/`, template examples, or empty/placeholder copies. If a file is ambiguous, clarify without overwriting it. List `learner-profile.md`, `scope.md`, `prd.md`, `spec.md`, and `checklist.md`, reading planning-document status lines.

- Missing or unapproved scope, PRD, or spec → name the gap and point to the corresponding planning skill; stop.
