## What it does

This skill guides coding assistants in writing Three.js code using `@react-three/fiber` and `@react-three/drei`. It covers scene setup, lighting, camera controls with `OrbitControls`, and loading GLB assets through the `useGLTF` hook. Code snippets target client components using `'use client'`.

Beyond basic geometry, the skill provides working structures for `useFrame` animations, 3D bar charts, and node graphs. Your project must have `three`, `@react-three/fiber`, and `@react-three/drei` installed, or the generated components will fail to build.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daffy0208/ai-dev-standards --skill 3d-visualizer -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/3d-visualizer/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/3d-visualizer/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daffy0208/ai-dev-standards --skill 3d-visualizer -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/3d-visualizer/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daffy0208/ai-dev-standards --skill 3d-visualizer -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/3d-visualizer/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install daffy0208/ai-dev-standards 3d-visualizer
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/3d-visualizer/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daffy0208/ai-dev-standards --skill 3d-visualizer -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/daffy0208/ai-dev-standards --path skills/3d-visualizer
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/3d-visualizer/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daffy0208/ai-dev-standards --skill 3d-visualizer -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**

## When to use it
- render 3D scenes with camera controls and lighting
- load GLB models using the useGLTF hook
- build 3D bar charts and network graph visualizations
- implement product configurators with live material color switching

## Example prompts
- Create a 3D product viewer component for `/models/product.glb` using OrbitControls
- Build a 3D bar chart component in React Three Fiber for monthly sales data
- Set up an animated rotating cube using useFrame and standard materials

## Three.js with React Three Fiber

```bash
npm install three @react-three/fiber @react-three/drei
```

### Basic 3D Scene

```typescript
// components/Scene3D.tsx
'use client'
import { Canvas } from '@react-three/fiber'
import { OrbitControls, Box, Sphere } from '@react-three/drei'
export function Scene3D() {
  return (
    <Canvas camera={{ position: [5, 5, 5], fov: 50 }}>
      {/* Lighting */}
      <ambientLight intensity={0.5} />
      <pointLight position={[10, 10, 10]} />
      {/* 3D Objects */}
      <Box position={[-2, 0, 0]} args={[1, 1, 1]}>
        <meshStandardMaterial color="hotpink" />
      </Box>
      <Sphere position={[2, 0, 0]} args={[0.7, 32, 32]}>
        <meshStandardMaterial color="cyan" metalness={0.8} roughness={0.2} />
      </Sphere>
      {/* Camera Controls */}
      <OrbitControls />
    </Canvas>
  )
}
```

---

## 3D Model Loader

```typescript
'use client'
import { useGLTF } from '@react-three/drei'
import { Canvas } from '@react-three/fiber'
function Model() {
  const { scene } = useGLTF('/models/product.glb')
  return <primitive object={scene} />
}
export function ProductViewer() {
  return (
    <Canvas>
      <ambientLight intensity={0.5} />
      <spotLight position={[10, 10, 10]} angle={0.15} />
      <Model />
      <OrbitControls
        enableZoom={true}
        enablePan={false}
        minPolarAngle={Math.PI / 4}
        maxPolarAngle={Math.PI / 2}
      />
    </Canvas>
  )
}
```

---

## Animated 3D

```typescript
'use client'
import { useRef } from 'react'
import { useFrame } from '@react-three/fiber'
import { Mesh } from 'three'
function RotatingCube() {
  const meshRef = useRef<Mesh>(null)
  useFrame((state, delta) => {
    if (meshRef.current) {
      meshRef.current.rotation.x += delta
      meshRef.current.rotation.y += delta * 0.5
    }
  })
  return (
    <mesh ref={meshRef}>
      <boxGeometry args={[2, 2, 2]} />
      <meshStandardMaterial color="orange" />
    </mesh>
  )
}
export function AnimatedScene() {
  return (
    <Canvas>
      <ambientLight />
      <pointLight position={[10, 10, 10]} />
      <RotatingCube />
    </Canvas>
  )
}
```

---

## 3D Chart (Bar Chart)

```typescript
'use client'
import { Canvas } from '@react-three/fiber'
import { OrbitControls, Text } from '@react-three/drei'
interface DataPoint {
  label: string
  value: number
  color: string
}
function Bar3D({ position, height, color, label }: {
  position: [number, number, number]
  height: number
  color: string
  label: string
}) {
