## What it does

The skill runs production in order and keeps every artifact on the canvas: a project brief and story outline first, then labeled character cards and environment-only scene cards, then a six-column shot table whose description column carries second-by-second direction, audio cues and a spatial anchor chain. After that comes a shot-table self-check, one text storyboards document with a section per shot, a video-model and resolution choice, single-shot clip rendering, full-film assembly and BGM matching.

At each expensive or high-impact step the workflow pauses and waits for a choice card. Right after intake it asks for screen size and total duration, and it will not move on without both answers. Storyboard artifacts are stripped from the final video.

It only runs inside the MiniMax Hub agent, because it needs the canvas workspace, choice cards and the `hub_generate_image` and `hub_generate_video` tools. Generic agent harnesses are not supported, so outside MiniMax Hub the skill will not start. The default look is Pixar-inspired 3D cartoon rendering with stylized proportions and warm subsurface skin.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add MiniMax-AI/MiniMax-H3 --skill 3d-animation-short-generator -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/3d-animation-short-generator/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/3d-animation-short-generator/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add MiniMax-AI/MiniMax-H3 --skill 3d-animation-short-generator -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/3d-animation-short-generator/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add MiniMax-AI/MiniMax-H3 --skill 3d-animation-short-generator -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/3d-animation-short-generator/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install MiniMax-AI/MiniMax-H3 3d-animation-short-generator
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/3d-animation-short-generator/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add MiniMax-AI/MiniMax-H3 --skill 3d-animation-short-generator -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/MiniMax-AI/MiniMax-H3 --path skills/3d-animation-short-generator
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/3d-animation-short-generator/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add MiniMax-AI/MiniMax-H3 --skill 3d-animation-short-generator -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- turn a one-line premise into an edited animated short
- keep the same character consistent across every shot
- lay out per-second action and audio in a shot table
- render clips one at a time and assemble them into a film
- match background music and composite it with the video

## Example prompts
- Make a short 3D animation about a robot looking for a home
- Build the character cards and shot table for this idea
- Assemble the clips into one film and match background music
