## What it does

This rule instructs the AI to operate within a WordPress plugin architecture. It enforces WordPress coding standards across PHP, JavaScript, and TypeScript, requiring strict type hints on PHP code.

When writing scripts, the rule directs the agent to choose TypeScript over plain JavaScript. It favors functional paradigms and composition over inheritance, keeping solutions aligned with WordPress ecosystem conventions and prioritizing readability.

Because the configuration sets `alwaysApply: false`, Cursor will not attach these guidelines to every prompt automatically.

## Install

### Cursor (native platform)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/rules/wordpress-php-guzzle-gutenberg-cursorrules-prompt-.mdc` — Frontmatter: description, globs, alwaysApply

### Claude Code

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.claude/rules/wordpress-php-guzzle-gutenberg-cursorrules-prompt-.md` — The paths frontmatter field limits the files: move globs from the source into paths

### Codex

**AGENTS.md**
- Codex reads AGENTS.md: paste the rule text there

### GitHub Copilot

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/instructions/wordpress-php-guzzle-gutenberg-cursorrules-prompt-.instructions.md` — The applyTo field sets which files it applies to: move globs from the source into applyTo

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/rules/wordpress-php-guzzle-gutenberg-cursorrules-prompt-.md`

### Cline

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.clinerules/wordpress-php-guzzle-gutenberg-cursorrules-prompt-.md`

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/PatrickJS/awesome-cursorrules/tree/HEAD/rules/wordpress-php-guzzle-gutenberg-cursorrules-prompt-.mdc
