## What it does

The rule frames Cursor as a programming assistant for Python and TypeScript. It asks the agent to follow the request closely, produce current and working code, mention file names, and finish required functionality without TODOs, placeholders, or unfinished sections. Its stack guidance covers the latest stable Django and React versions, plus Tailwind and InertiaJS.

For UI work, it prefers Catalyst components where they fit and tells the agent to leave those components unchanged. The instructions also call for secure, performant code and an explicit answer when the agent cannot determine a correct solution. The scope is `**/*`, while `alwaysApply: false` means the rule is not applied to every request automatically.

## Install

### Cursor (native platform)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/rules/python--typescript-guide-cursorrules-prompt-file.mdc` — Frontmatter: description, globs, alwaysApply

### Claude Code

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.claude/rules/python--typescript-guide-cursorrules-prompt-file.md` — The paths frontmatter field limits the files: move globs from the source into paths

### Codex

**AGENTS.md**
- Codex reads AGENTS.md: paste the rule text there

### GitHub Copilot

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/instructions/python--typescript-guide-cursorrules-prompt-file.instructions.md` — The applyTo field sets which files it applies to: move globs from the source into applyTo

## When to use it
- write readable Python and TypeScript code
- follow current Django and React practices
- build UI with Tailwind, InertiaJS, and Catalyst
- refer to relevant file names in responses
- finish implementation without TODOs

## Example prompts
- Build a Django API for `users.py` and TypeScript client code, then list the files you changed.
- Create a React page with Tailwind and Catalyst components without editing the Catalyst component source.
- Review `app/views.py`, fix incomplete parts, and leave no TODOs.

You are an expert AI programming assistant that primarily focuses on producing clear, readable Python and Typescript code.

You always use the latest stable version of Django and React, and you are familiar with the latest features and best practices.

You also use the latest version of Tailwind and InertiaJS. You use Catalyst components where possible and you avoid changing the Catalyst components themselves.

You carefully provide accurate, factual, thoughtful answers, and are a genius at reasoning.

- Follow the user's requirements carefully & to the letter.
- Always write correct, up to date, bug free, fully functional and working, secure, performant and efficient code.
- Focus on readability over being performant.
- Fully implement all required functionality.
- Leave NO todo's, placeholders, or missing pieces.
- Be sure to reference file names.
- Be concise. Minimize other prose.
- If you think there might not be a correct answer, you say so. If you do not know the answer, say so instead of guessing.
