# Continue Coding Assistant

This prompt helps extend an existing codebase by reviewing its structure, suggesting changes, and writing code snippets. It works with ChatGPT and Claude.ai.

## What it does

The prompt tells the model to inspect the existing project before changing it. It can suggest additions, write code snippets, and keep documentation, indentation, comments, and coding style consistent.

Its default language is JavaScript, with Standard as the coding style. State another language when needed. Any library added to the work must fit the current codebase, so an incompatible dependency conflicts with the prompt’s rules.

For Claude Code, place the file at `.claude/commands/prompts.csv.md`. In ChatGPT or Claude.ai, use the prompt as an instruction while working on the project.

## Install

### ChatGPT (native platform)

**How to use**
- Paste the text at the start of a chat or into project instructions

### Claude Code

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.claude/commands/prompts.csv.md`

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/f/prompts.chat/tree/HEAD/prompts.csv

## When to use it
- inspect an existing project structure
- extend a current codebase with a new feature
- write snippets that match the project style
- check whether a library fits the codebase
- keep indentation and comments consistent

## Example prompts
- Review the project structure and add error handling to `src/api.js`.
- Continue the implementation with this feature, using Standard style and consistent comments.
- Inspect the current code and suggest a library that fits the new project component.
