## What it does

This integration exposes Zscaler cloud security services to Claude Code using MCP. It packages 402 tools covering ZPA, ZIA, ZDX, ZCC, EASM, and Z-Insights. The agent can retrieve application segments, inspect firewall rules, and review connectivity settings directly inside the workspace.

Safety controls are active from the start: the server defaults to a read-only state with over 110 retrieval actions. Any operation that creates, updates, or deletes configuration entries is blocked until you explicitly supply the `--enable-write-tools` flag or set `ZSCALER_MCP_WRITE_ENABLED=true`.

The repository is currently in public preview, meaning features can shift before a stable 1.0 release. Naming the exact target service in your request (such as `zpa` or `zia`) keeps the agent from triggering the wrong retrieval tool.

**zscaler-mcp-server** is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that connects AI agents with the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange platform. **By default, the server operates in read-only mode** for security, requiring explicit opt-in to enable write operations.
