## What it does

URC takes `/remote-control` beyond Claude. Run `/urc codex` or `/urc gemini` and the plugin opens a tmux pane, then wires it to your Remote Control session in the Claude app. What you type arrives unchanged and the answer comes back the same way. A small Haiku relay does the passing: it clears itself every 25 sends, respawns the target if it dies, and retries your message up to three times. Type `status` to see remaining capacity and target health.

There is a path that never invokes a model. A line like `>codex: message` or `>gemini: message` is handled by a `UserPromptSubmit` hook. Register the target first: `bash urc/core/relay-ctl.sh add codex %NNN && bash urc/core/relay-ctl.sh on`. You can also start from the far side, using the `rc-bridge` skill in Codex or `/rc` in Gemini.

You need tmux, Python 3.10+, `jq`, the Claude CLI and a Claude Max plan for phone control. Gemini CLI needs one manual fix: if `~/.gemini/settings.json` carries a `tools.allowed` whitelist, drop the `"tools"` block, or the bridge will not come up. Checking with `/tools` tells you nothing, since that command hides MCP tools on purpose — use `gemini mcp list` or `/mcp list` instead. Inside sits the `urc-coordination` MCP server, 11 tools for passing messages between panes over SQLite.

# URC — Universal Remote Control

You know `/remote-control` — the Claude Code feature that lets you control a session from the Claude App on your phone. URC makes it **universal**. One command, and your phone controls Codex. Another command, and it controls Gemini. Same app, same conversation, same interface. No extra API keys. No extra apps.

Behind the scenes, URC spawns a lightweight Haiku relay that acts as a pure passthrough — your messages go through unchanged, output comes back verbatim. The relay is self-managing: it auto-clears, auto-reconnects on target death, and runs indefinitely without intervention.

## Quick Start

### Prerequisites

- **tmux**: `brew install tmux` (macOS) or `sudo apt install tmux` (Linux)
- **Python 3.10+**, **jq**
- **Claude Code CLI**: `curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bash`
- **Claude Max plan** (for phone control — see [claude.com/pricing](https://claude.com/pricing))
- **Codex CLI** and/or **Gemini CLI** (optional — install whichever you want to bridge)

### Use It

From Claude Code (inside tmux):

Open the **Claude App on your phone** — the relay automatically activates Remote Control. Type a message and it goes straight to Codex or Gemini. Responses stream back as they complete.

Aliases: `/rc-bridge`, `/rc-any`, `/rc-relay` all work.

You can also bridge from the other side:
- **From Codex:** activate the `rc-bridge` skill
- **From Gemini:** type `/rc`

Your Claude plan covers the Haiku relay — no separate API key needed.
