# statusbar

Puts model name, context usage, session cost and git branch in a status line at the bottom of Claude. Useful when you want to watch what a session is costing.

## What it does

The plugin draws a live status line under your terminal session. Widgets cover the active model, thinking effort level, a context usage bar, session cost, elapsed time and the git branch with a dirty marker. Other widgets report changed lines, the 5-hour and 7-day rate limits, token counts and cache hit rate.

There are more than 20 widgets and three layouts: one compact line, a two-line standard view, and a three-line view with the Clawd pixel mascot. Configure the set through `/statusbar:config`, or apply a preset straight away — `minimal`, `default`, `developer`, `full`, `tracker`. Bar colors track load: green below 55%, then yellow, orange, and red past 85%.

It is plain Node.js with no external dependencies. Input comes from stdin JSON, local git and the filesystem, with no network calls; git state and terminal width are cached for 3-5 seconds. Restart Claude after setup or the line will not show up. To try it without installing, run `claude --plugin-dir /path/to/statusbar`.

## When to use it
- watch context window usage without opening another panel
- track session spend as it grows
- see which branch you are on and whether the tree is dirty
- check how often responses come from cache
- keep the 5-hour and 7-day rate limits in view

## Color System

All colors use RGB true color for maximum fidelity:

- **Context/rate limits**: Green (<55%) → Yellow (<70%) → Orange (<85%) → Red (85%+)
- **Cost**: Claude orange
- **Effort**: Lavender
- **Git**: Cyan branch, red dirty indicator
- **Mascot**: Claude's signature orange (`rgb(215, 119, 87)`)

## Dev Mode

Test locally without installing as a plugin:
