## What it does

SocratiCode builds a local index of your codebase and serves it to the agent over MCP. Search is hybrid: semantic embeddings plus BM25, fused with RRF. Under the hood it chunks files with AST awareness, builds polyglot dependency graphs with circular-dependency detection, and traces call flow and blast radius at symbol level. Database schemas, API specs and infra configs get indexed too, so they show up in the same search.

Indexing runs in batches with resumable checkpoints, so a pause, crash or restart doesn't lose progress. A file watcher keeps the index current on every change, and several agents can share one index at once.

Everything runs locally. Docker handles the setup, no API keys needed. Cloud embeddings (OpenAI, Google Gemini) and Qdrant are optional if you want them. No running Docker, no plugin — check that first. The license is AGPL-3.0, which matters if you plan to embed the engine in your own product.
