## What it does

One install brings three pieces: Notion skills from the Notion Cookbook, the Notion MCP server, and a set of slash commands. The skills tell Claude how to behave inside a workspace — structuring notes, handling meetings, writing up research, turning a spec into implementation. The MCP server supplies the tools: search the workspace, read pages and databases, create and update pages, append blocks, insert database rows.

Commands cover the everyday moves. `/Notion:search` scans the whole workspace, `/Notion:create-page` makes a page under a parent, `/Notion:database-query` hits a database by name or ID, `/Notion:create-task` and `/Notion:create-database-row` write into databases. A separate `/Notion:tasks:*` group builds a task board: setup, build and plan from a page URL, plus explain-diff for writing up code changes.

Auth runs over OAuth, so there is no token to paste by hand. Restart Claude after installing — skip that and the MCP server will not come up, which is the usual first-time snag.

- find a page anywhere in the workspace
- create a page under a specific parent
- pull rows from a database by name or ID
- file a task in a tasks database
- write up code changes as a Notion doc
