## What it does

This plugin connects Claude to the Lua language server. Your agent sees diagnostics and code intelligence for files ending in `.lua`, so edits to Lua scripts are based on an actual parse of the code rather than guesswork.

The server itself is not bundled. Install it first: `brew install lua-language-server` on macOS, a distro package or the snap with `--classic` on Linux, or a prebuilt binary from the releases page. Without `lua-language-server` on the machine the plugin has nothing to talk to, so check that before you install it.

After that, add the plugin from the `claude-plugins-official` marketplace. No per-project setup is needed; the server picks up `.lua` files in your working directory on its own.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Plugin marketplace**
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin install lua-lsp@claude-plugins-official
```
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin marketplace add anthropics/claude-plugins-official
```

## When to use it
- get diagnostics for `.lua` files while editing
- read through an unfamiliar Lua script without running it
- catch typos in function names before the game or service starts
- edit Lua configs with syntax hints

## Example prompts
- check this `.lua` file and list every error
- find unused variables in `init.lua`
- explain what the function in `config.lua` does
