## What it does

This plugin runs a Socratic interview instead of a single round of questions. Each round narrows the task, and the loop continues until measured ambiguity falls under a mathematical gate. Expect 8–15 rounds.

Challenge Mode adds two roles. Contrarian pushes back on the assumptions you made, Simplifier looks for requirements worth cutting. Every decision along the way lands in a JSONL log, so the reasoning stays readable afterwards.

It takes inspiration from Sorbh/interview-me and ships under the MIT license, which means you can read and adapt the source. Install comes from the `claude-community` marketplace.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Plugin marketplace**
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin marketplace add anthropics/claude-plugins-community
```
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin install jarvis-deep-interview@claude-community
```

## When to use it
- turn a vague brief into concrete requirements
- surface assumptions hidden in your own task description
- keep a JSONL record of what was decided and why
- stress-test a design through the Contrarian challenge
- trim unnecessary scope with the Simplifier challenge

## Example prompts
- Run a deep interview on my task and narrow it down to clear requirements
- Turn on Challenge Mode and push back on my architecture assumptions
- Log every decision from the interview to a JSONL file

> ### 📦 Status — frozen reference snapshot (2026-10-13)
>
> **This is the last self-contained version of the standalone Jarvis stack (v2.60.6, 2026-08-23) plus 3 small boot fixes. It is no longer developed and comes with no support.**
>
> - **What happened.** In September 2026 the author's own setup moved onto [OpenClaw](https://github.com/openclaw/openclaw) as its runtime — one person cannot keep a 24/7 platform current.
> - **What this branch is.** Reference code you can read, fork and boot. Re-checked on 2026-10-13: a clean clone installs and the Discord bot starts up to the Discord login step (macOS 26 arm64, Node 22.22 and 24.21). Live Discord replies, the cron/LaunchAgent fleet, RAG and the setup wizard were **not** re-tested for this snapshot — see [Known gaps](#known-gaps-in-this-snapshot).
> - **What `main` is.** After v2.60.6, `main` became the author's machine-specific working tree (paths and private modules that exist only on that machine). It does not boot from a clean clone and is no longer updated in this repository.
> - **If you want something maintained**, use OpenClaw.
> - **Issues and PRs** are read, but expect slow or no replies. Forks are welcome (MIT).

<details><summary>Earlier notices (April – June 2026)</summary>

> **⚠️ Migration Notice (2026-04-17)**: Runtime data relocated from `~/.jarvis/` → `~/jarvis/runtime/`.
> Existing installations: `~/.jarvis` remains as a backward-compatible symlink through **2026-10-17** (D+180).
> Fresh installs: use `~/jarvis/runtime/` directly. See [docs/A2-MIGRATION.md](infra/docs/A2-MIGRATION.md) (upcoming).

> **🔧 Refactor Notice (2026-04-20)**: Modules `career-*` / `job-*` were renamed to `profile-*` / `inbox-*` in commit `e74f168` to reflect a more generic, owner-agnostic abstraction.
> Legacy commit messages and closed issues may still reference the old names. **Current HEAD is the canonical naming.**

> **📋 Recent Updates (2026-05-08 → 2026-06-27)**: 262 commits — the project grew ~40% since the last README refresh.
> Highlights: **Compound Learning** (mistake clusters auto-promoted to permanent behavioural rules — the same error stops recurring) · **Proactive Owner State Engine** (infers your focus/mood and speaks first) · **Response Quality Gates** (auto-regenerates shallow or over-asserted replies) · **Image→Memory pipeline** (screenshots flow into long-term memory) · **3-tier notification routing** (severity-split channels).
> **Scale now**: 358 automation scripts · 136 scheduled tasks · 170 LaunchAgents · 60+ skills. **Verified 7-day cron LLM cost: $9.42** (theoretical API price; $0 on a Claude subscription). See [CHANGELOG.md](CHANGELOG.md).

> **🧩 Claude Code Plugins (2026-05-13)**: `jarvis-goal` · `jarvis-deep-interview` · `jarvis-plan-review` — Anthropic `/goal` port with irreversibility guard, Sorbh/interview-me convergent gating port, gstack `/plan-ceo-review` 11-section port. All OSS-safe English.
