## What it does

The plugin runs an MCP server next to Claude Code and reaches your own Immich instance through its public API. You get 21 tools and 11 skills: CLIP-based search, albums built from GPS coordinates, duplicate hunting with perceptual hashing, timeline gap analysis, metadata repair, and browsable HTML galleries. Ask for albums covering every trip and the agent groups shots by location and date, no sorting by hand.

Before it starts you need Immich on version 1.90 or later, an API key from that server, and Python 3.10+ with `pip`. Dependencies land in your system `python3`, so a project-local virtualenv alone is not enough to get it running. Setup goes through `/setup-immich-photo-manager`: it checks the URL and key against the server, stores them, then reports the Immich version and how many assets sit in the library.

The plugin never deletes anything on its own. Destructive steps stop and wait for your confirmation, which matters when the same photo arrives from several sources and duplicate detection suggests a batch.

Every release is also run **live against real Immich 2.7.5 and 3.1.0** (Docker, all 94 tools over the MCP protocol's legacy era, state re-read after each write) before it is tagged; both protocol eras (the legacy handshake and stateless 2026-07-28) are pinned on every push by SDK-free wire tests ([`tests/test_raw_wire_eras.py`](tests/test_raw_wire_eras.py)). The kit is in [`tests/live/`](tests/live/), reproducible by anyone.
