## What it does

graperoot maps functions, classes, imports and the calls between them. Ask a question and the graph returns the files and symbols closest to it, so Claude opens the right place first instead of walking the tree.

Two pieces ship with it. The MCP server `mcp-graph-server` exposes `graph_continue`, `graph_scan`, `graph_read`, `graph_register_edit` and `fallback_rg`. A skill named `graph-context` sets the retrieval order for Claude: reach for the graph tools first, and treat their confidence levels as a signal.

You need Python 3.10+ and Claude 1.0.33+. The package comes from `pip install graperoot` as compiled Cython binaries, so no source files are exposed. TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Go, Rust, Java, C, C++, Ruby, PHP, Swift and Kotlin are covered, among others.

- cut token spend on exploratory searching
- trace which callers depend on a given function
- point the agent at symbols tied to the current task
- record an edit so later queries see it
