# exa

exa gives Claude Code Exa web search and page-reading tools. Use it to investigate a topic across sources or extract content from specific URLs.

## What it does

The default tools are `web_search_exa` for web search and `web_fetch_exa` for reading pages as Markdown. The plugin also includes the `search` skill for deep research and `exa-agent` for enrichment and structured output.

Optional tools are enabled through the MCP server URL’s `tools` parameter. That list replaces the defaults, so include any default tools you still need. `agent_run` requires OAuth or an Exa API key; without authentication, that research tool cannot run.
