## What it does

\`dotnet-diag` adds GitHub Copilot skills for examining .NET performance, debugging failures, and working through incidents. Its listed areas include tracing, symbolication, Android tombstones, dump collection, microbenchmarking, and CLR activation.

The package also contains `agents/optimizing-dotnet-performance`, a custom-agent definition for GitHub Copilot. It is not a slash command. Codex plugin installation exposes the skills but does not register that `.agent.md` file as a native Codex agent, so the agent workflow does not carry over there.

Install the plugin with `copilot plugin install dotnet-diag@awesome-copilot`. Then give GitHub Copilot a concrete .NET failure, trace, dump, or performance question to investigate.

## Install

### GitHub Copilot (native platform)

**Command from the source**
```bash
copilot plugin install dotnet-diag@awesome-copilot
```

## When to use it
- investigate a .NET application failure
- trace down the cause of slow .NET code
- review traces from an incident
- analyze an Android tombstone
- collect and inspect a process dump

## Example prompts
- Investigate the performance regression in this .NET application.
- Review this trace and outline how to debug the incident.
- Analyze the Android tombstone and connect it to the code failure.

Skills for .NET performance investigations, debugging, and incident analysis.

The `optimizing-dotnet-performance` file under `agents/` is a GitHub Copilot custom-agent
definition. Codex plugin installs expose this plugin's skills, but do not install that `.agent.md`
file as a native Codex agent.
