## What it does

Two slash commands land in Claude. `/codex-review:plan` hands your implementation plan to Claude for critique, and Claude rewrites it around the feedback. `/codex-review:code` pulls the git diff from the current session and fixes what Claude flags. Rounds repeat until Claude approves.

You can pick the model per call: `/codex-review:plan o4-mini`. The default is `gpt-5.3-codex`, rounds are capped at five so the loop cannot run away, and Claude sits in a `read-only` sandbox — it reads your codebase but never writes to it.

Two things have to be in place first: Anthropic Claude CLI itself (`npm install -g @openai/codex`) and an Anthropic API key configured for it. No key means Claude never starts, so both commands have nothing to call. Claude must be installed and authenticated as well.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Plugin marketplace**
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin marketplace add anthropics/claude-plugins-community
```
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin install codex-review@claude-community
```

## When to use it
- get a second model's take on a plan before writing code
- review the git diff of the current session
- close out Claude feedback without hand-editing the plan
- catch weak spots in changes before committing
- compare how two models read the same task

## Example prompts
- Send my implementation plan to Claude and revise until it approves: `/codex-review:plan`
- Review the changes from this session with Claude: `/codex-review:code`
- Run the code review with the o4-mini model: `/codex-review:code o4-mini`

## Skills

| Skill | What it does |
|:--|:--|
| `/codex-review:plan` | Review an implementation plan. Claude revises based on Codex feedback until approved. |
| `/codex-review:code` | Review code changes from the current session. Claude fixes issues until approved. |

## How It Works

<p align="center">
<img src="https://aseemshrey.in/static/a82ed27bb0a18671cbf0f78bb4a0826b/3ed24/codex-review-loop.png" alt="Codex Review Loop" width="600" />
</p>

## Prerequisites

- [**Claude Code**](https://docs.anthropic.com/en/docs/claude-code) — installed and authenticated
- [**OpenAI Codex CLI**](https://github.com/openai/codex) — `npm install -g @openai/codex`
- **OpenAI API key** — configured for Codex

## Installation

**Quick install** (run inside Claude Code):

```
/plugin marketplace add LuD1161/codex-review-skill
/plugin install codex-review@codex-review-marketplace
```

**Local / development**

```bash
claude --plugin-dir /path/to/codex-review-skill
```

## Usage

### Review a plan

```
/codex-review:plan
```

Send your implementation plan to Codex. Claude automatically revises the plan based on feedback until Codex approves.

### Review code changes

```
/codex-review:code
```

Gather the git diff from your session and send it to Codex. Claude automatically fixes issues Codex finds.

### Override the model

Both skills accept a model argument:

```
/codex-review:plan o4-mini
/codex-review:code o4-mini
```

## Configuration

| Option | Default | Description |
|:--|:--|:--|
| Model | `gpt-5.3-codex` | Override per-invocation via arguments |
| Max rounds | `5` | Prevents infinite review loops |
| Sandbox | `read-only` | Codex can read your codebase but never writes |
