## What it does

code-simplifier is a subagent shipped in Anthropic's official Claude marketplace. It reads the code you just touched and rewrites it for clarity and consistency. Behaviour stays the same: no new features, no edits to parts of the repo you did not change.

It runs as an agent rather than a slash command, so you invoke it through Task or just ask for it in chat. The focus on recent changes is the real limit here. Point it at specific files if you want older code covered, because it will not go looking on its own. No API keys or external services involved — it works inside your current session.

Worth installing if your diffs tend to be working but bulky. Commit before running it on anything important. The agent edits files in place, and without history there is nothing to roll back to.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Plugin marketplace**
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin install code-simplifier@claude-plugins-official
```
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin marketplace add anthropics/claude-plugins-official
```

## When to use it
- simplify a function you just wrote in a hurry
- match freshly added code to the style of the surrounding file
- strip redundant branches and duplication from a recent edit
- clean up a messy diff before code review
- tidy code after a quick fix without breaking its logic

## Example prompts
- Simplify the code I just changed in `src/api/handler.ts`
- Run code-simplifier over my latest edits in this file
- Make the functions I just added consistent with the rest, keep behaviour the same
