## What it does

The package wraps MCP Toolbox's prebuilt `cloud-sql-postgres` server as a plugin. Your agent gets tools to run queries against Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL, explore schemas and troubleshoot issues. It is beta, pre-v1.0, so breaking changes are possible before the first stable release.

You need a Google Cloud project with the Cloud SQL Admin API enabled and Application Default Credentials in your environment. The server runs through `npx`, so Node.js is required. IAM roles: Cloud SQL Client (`roles/cloudsql.client`) and Cloud SQL Admin (`roles/cloudsql.admin`). Private IP instances only work if the agent runs in the same VPC network — otherwise the connection fails.

Keep these env vars ready: `CLOUD_SQL_POSTGRES_PROJECT`, `CLOUD_SQL_POSTGRES_REGION`, `CLOUD_SQL_POSTGRES_INSTANCE`, `CLOUD_SQL_POSTGRES_DATABASE`. User and password are optional; without them the server falls back to the active local IAM user, and that user has to be added to the Cloud SQL instance. IP type goes in `CLOUD_SQL_POSTGRES_IP_TYPE` as `PUBLIC`, `PRIVATE` or `PSC`.

## Getting Started

### Configuration

Please keep these env vars handy during the installation process:

- `CLOUD_SQL_POSTGRES_PROJECT`: The GCP project ID.
- `CLOUD_SQL_POSTGRES_REGION`: The region of your Cloud SQL instance.
- `CLOUD_SQL_POSTGRES_INSTANCE`: The ID of your Cloud SQL instance.
