## What it does

claudebase syncs Claude Code configuration to GitHub, including MCP servers, agents, slash commands, skills, hooks, rules, and agent memory. Before a pull, it creates a timestamped backup, shows a diff, and asks for confirmation. Secret scanning blocks API keys, PEM files, and Bearer tokens; `--force` overrides that check.

Profiles keep configurations separate, while files in `shared/` are applied as a base before the selected profile. The plugin also detects when another machine has pushed since the last sync. A push is blocked until you pull or use `--force`, so forcing an update can replace remote changes.

Conversations, sessions, shell snapshots, and logs are excluded. Global settings and `skills-lock.json` are opt-in. When pulling the lock file, claudebase prints install commands but does not run them automatically.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Plugin marketplace**
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin marketplace add anthropics/claude-plugins-community
```
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin install claudebase@claude-community
```

## When to use it
- move a Claude Code setup to another machine
- restore configuration from a private GitHub repository
- keep work and personal setups in separate profiles
- preview changes before pushing or pulling
- catch conflicting pushes from multiple machines

## Example prompts
- Set up a private GitHub repository for the current configuration with `/claudebase:sync-setup`.
- Compare the local setup with the remote copy using `/claudebase:sync-status`.
- Switch to the `work` profile with `/claudebase:sync-profiles switch work`.

Your Claude Code setup is infrastructure. Agents, skills, rules, hooks, memory — these accumulate over weeks of work and represent real investment. Losing them to a disk wipe, or manually recreating them on a new machine, shouldn't happen.

**Claudebase syncs your entire Claude Code environment to a private GitHub repo.** Profiles let you switch between work, personal, and team configurations instantly. Secret scanning, automatic backups, and multi-machine conflict detection keep things safe.

## Install

**From the Claude directory (recommended).** Open [Claudebase in the Claude directory](https://claude.ai/directory?q=claudebase) and add it. Plugins added on claude.ai sync to Claude Code automatically (they show up as `claudebase@synced`) and update when a new version is published.

**From the command line, in one step** (Claude Code v2.1.292+):

```bash
claude plugin install claudebase --marketplace rohithzr/claudebase
```

Or from inside a session (v2.1.275+):

```
/plugin install claudebase --marketplace rohithzr/claudebase
```

<details>
<summary>Older Claude Code versions</summary>

```bash
claude plugin marketplace add rohithzr/claudebase
claude plugin install claudebase@rohithzr
```
</details>

Then restart Claude Code or run `/reload-plugins`.

Installed from the directory: updates arrive automatically; remove it from claude.ai to uninstall.

Installed from the command line:

```bash
# Update
claude plugin update claudebase@rohithzr
# Uninstall
claude plugin uninstall claudebase@rohithzr
claude plugin marketplace remove rohithzr
```
</details>

## Quick Start

```
/sync-setup          # One-time: create private GitHub repo + first push
/sync-push           # Back up current config
/sync-pull           # Restore config from GitHub
/sync-status         # Compare local vs remote
/sync-profiles list  # Manage named profiles
/sync-config         # View/change settings
```

> Type `/sync` to see all commands. Full namespaced form (`/claudebase:sync-push`) also works.

```
# You: push your team config to a shared profile
/sync-profiles create team-defaults --from work
/sync-push
# Teammate: on their machine
/sync-setup
/sync-pull --profile team-defaults
```

### Recover from a bad change

```
/sync-pull                        # Restores from last push
