## What it does

This plugin supplies Claude Code with structured workflows for drafting product documentation. It converts rough concepts into detailed PRDs covering scope, risks, edge cases, and completion criteria. You can also generate user stories paired with acceptance criteria ready for tracking in Linear or Jira.

All commands sit under the `/pmprompt` namespace. Included skills handle classic PM workflows like calculating RICE scores via `/pmprompt:feature-prioritization-assistant`, applying Jobs to Be Done, or drafting quarterly OKRs. The package also features tools for AI products: defining measurable quality bars with p95 latency targets and building operational specs for AI agents.

Using the skills requires the `/pmprompt:` namespace prefix in terminal commands. Without loading the plugin directory or installing from the community marketplace, Claude Code will not recognize these slash commands.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Plugin marketplace**
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin marketplace add anthropics/claude-plugins-community
```
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin install claude-plugin-product-management@claude-community
```

## When to use it
- draft PRDs with scope boundaries and edge cases
- create user stories with acceptance criteria for Jira or Linear
- prioritize roadmap features using RICE scoring
- write production specs and safety stop rules for AI agents
- set latency and eval thresholds before shipping AI features

## Example prompts
- /pmprompt:prd-writer create a PRD for guest checkout improvements
- /pmprompt:feature-prioritization-assistant calculate RICE scores for our Q3 backlog
- /pmprompt:agent-spec-generator write a spec for an automated triage agent with escalation paths

# Claude plugin for product managers

A free / open source **Claude plugin for product managers**.

Start here: https://pmprompt.com/claude-product-management-plugin

It works with:
- **Claude plugins** (directory): https://claude.com/plugins
- **Cowork plugins**: https://claude.com/blog/cowork-plugins
- **Claude Code** (terminal)

## What this is

Plugins bundle skills/commands so you can install them once and reuse them across projects.

### Examples (use cases)
1) Turn a messy feature idea into a shippable PRD (problem, goals, scope/non-goals, risks, edge cases, “done when”).
2) Generate user stories + acceptance criteria (ready to paste into Jira/Linear).
3) Write a crisp stakeholder update (highlights, risks, asks).

Once installed, these skills show up under the `pmprompt` namespace:

- `/pmprompt:prd-writer`
- `/pmprompt:jobs-to-be-done`
- `/pmprompt:working-backwards`

## Install

### Option 1: Install skills directly (skills.sh / Skills CLI)

If you just want the **skills**, you can install them directly via the Skills CLI:

```bash
npx skills add pmprompt/claude-plugin-product-management
```

Browse the directory: https://skills.sh

### Option 2: Claude Code (local dev / from GitHub)

```bash
git clone https://github.com/pmprompt/claude-plugin-product-management.git
cd claude-plugin-product-management
claude --plugin-dir .
```

Then run any skill:

- `/pmprompt:feature-prioritization-assistant`
- `/pmprompt:positioning-canvas`

### Option 3: Codex

This repository includes Codex plugin metadata (`.codex-plugin/plugin.json` and `.agents/plugins/marketplace.json`) for the same PM skills. Add the marketplace, then install the plugin:

```bash
codex plugin marketplace add pmprompt/claude-plugin-product-management
codex plugin add pmprompt@pmprompt-skills
```

Or, after adding the marketplace, install **pmprompt** from the Codex Plugins UI. Codex also turns the workflow commands in `commands/` into skills.

To try a local checkout instead, run `codex plugin marketplace add .` from the repo root.

## Skills included

| Skill | Description |
|------|-------------|
| [ab-test-designer](skills/ab-test-designer/) | Design robust A/B test experiments. Use when testing a new feature, validating a hypothesis, or optimizing conversion rates. |
| [agent-spec-generator](skills/agent-spec-generator/) | Write a production-ready spec for an AI agent: scope, tools and permissions, autonomy levels, stop rules, escalation, failure modes, evals, and rollout. Use when you are about to build, buy, or expand an AI agent. |
| [ai-ship-bar](skills/ai-ship-bar/) | Define a measurable quality bar for shipping an AI feature: task completion, precision and recall, p95 latency, cost per successful request, eval set design, sign-off, regression gates, and post-launch monitoring. |
| [competitive-analysis-framework](skills/competitive-analysis-framework/) | Create detailed competitive analysis and positioning. Use when launching a new product, planning positioning, or identifying differentiation opportunities. |
| [design-sprint](skills/design-sprint/) | Use when asked to "run a design sprint", "5-day sprint", "prototype in a week", "test ideas before building", or "Jake Knapp sprint". Helps teams go from problem to tested prototype in five days. The Design Sprint framework (created by Jake Knapp at Google Ventures) compresses months of work into one focused week. |
| [feature-prioritization-assistant](skills/feature-prioritization-assistant/) | Calculate RICE scores and prioritize features systematically. Use when building your product roadmap and need to make data-driven prioritization decisions. |
