## What it does

The plugin ships a set of skills that show Claude how to drive the Carta MCP server. That server is a separate project in `carta/carta-mcp`; this package holds the skills and hooks that talk to it.

Each skill covers one job. `carta-reporting` surfaces grants, stakeholders, preferred holders, SAFEs and round history. `carta-conversion-calculator` works out how a SAFE or note turns into equity. `carta-valuation-history` returns past 409A valuations, and `carta-hmrc-limits` tracks EMI/CSOP allowance under HMRC rules. Writing is covered too: `carta-issuance` creates certificates and option grants, `carta-modify-issuables` amends what was already issued. A separate skill, `carta-interaction-reference`, sets the rules for how cap table data gets presented — tone, precision, provenance.

Auth runs as a two-leg OAuth redirect. Claude opens a browser at the server's `/authorize` endpoint, you sign in on Carta's page, and the returned code is swapped for an access token. Every MCP tool call then carries that token as a bearer. Restart Claude after installing and run `/mcp`, or the server calls will not go through. The plugin also collects telemetry: session context, model configuration and plugin activity.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Plugin marketplace**
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin install carta-cap-table@claude-plugins-official
```
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin marketplace add anthropics/claude-plugins-official
```

## When to use it
- see the ownership breakdown for a company
- convert a SAFE into shares
- check when a 409A valuation expires
- issue a certificate or an option grant
- find outstanding witness signatures on awards

## Example prompts
- What Carta cap table data do I have access to?
- Show me the ownership breakdown for Acme
- Calculate the SAFE conversion into equity for the last round

# Carta Cap Table

Claude Code plugin that gives Claude access to Carta cap table data.

## How it works

This plugin provides **skills** that teach Claude how to use the Carta MCP server effectively — querying cap tables, modeling rounds, detecting portfolio alerts, and more. The MCP server itself lives in the [carta-mcp](https://github.com/carta/carta-mcp) repo.

OAuth uses a two-leg redirect flow:
1. Claude opens a browser to the MCP server's `/authorize` endpoint
2. User logs in via Carta's login page
3. Carta redirects back with an auth code, which is exchanged for an access token
4. Claude sends the token as a bearer token on every MCP tool call

## Installation

Install from the marketplace via `/plugin`, or use the install script in [`cap-table-scaffold`](../cap-table-scaffold/scripts/install/).

After installing, restart Claude Code and run `/mcp` to complete OAuth authentication.

### Try it out

- "What Carta cap table data do I have access to?"
- "Show me the ownership breakdown for [company]"
- "Who are the stakeholders in [company]?"
- "What SAFEs are outstanding for [company]?"
- "When does the 409A expire for [company]?"

## MCP Server

The Carta MCP server source code lives in [carta/carta-mcp](https://github.com/carta/carta-mcp). This plugin only contains the skills and hooks needed to use it from Claude.

## Testing

Run the verdict test suite with `/cap-table-scaffold:test`. Requires the `carta-local` MCP server running and authenticated — run `/mcp` first if needed.

```
/cap-table-scaffold:test                    # all suites in parallel
/cap-table-scaffold:test ai-authorization   # single suite
```
