# build-with-wordpress

## What it does

The plugin writes the parts you would otherwise build by hand: `theme.json`, block markup, template parts, responsive layouts. Two workflows cover different levels of control. `/wordpress.com:quick-build` runs a single session — site spec, design choice, build, activation. `/wordpress.com:design-site` inserts review stages first: style tiles for palette and type, page layout options, full mockups, and a gallery at `/?design-gallery` that refreshes as files appear. There is also `/wordpress.com:preview-designs`, which produces three aesthetic directions without a full build.

Skills live in `skills/`; reference docs in `references/` get pulled in by subagents at runtime. A bundled validator checks the block markup once the theme is generated, then the theme is activated and you get the local URL.

Start Claude from the folder holding your Studio sites, `~/Studio` for example, because the plugin checks the working directory on first run. You need WordPress Studio itself with the CLI switched on so the `studio` command resolves. Node.js 18+ is required by the validator — skip it and the block-fixing step fails. Usage counters are collected unless you export `WP_SITE_CREATOR_NO_TELEMETRY=1` before launching.
