## What it does

Twelve skills ship inside this plugin, covering everything from first-day account setup and security baselines to production infrastructure. There is a knowledge base with sample architectures and learn articles, a prompt library you can copy, advice that shifts with your startup stage, and interactive scaffolding. The migration toolkit comes along too: `azure-to-aws`, `gcp-to-aws`, `heroku-to-aws`, `llm-to-bedrock`, `agent-advisor` and `tf-best-practices`.

The migration skills chain together. They scan your infrastructure — Terraform, billing, source code — map services to AWS equivalents, estimate what it will cost, then produce validated Terraform and migration scripts. For AI workloads, `llm-to-bedrock` rewrites SDK calls to the Bedrock Converse API, runs a quality evaluation against a golden dataset, and hands back the changes on a merge-ready git branch. Where subagent dispatch is unavailable, that skill runs inline instead: slower, same outcome.

The `awslabs/startups` repository is marked deprecated. Development moved to `aws/agent-toolkit-for-aws`, and existing installs get no further updates. If you installed from the old marketplace, remove both copies — otherwise the same skills run twice.

## Requirements
- Works with: AWS

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Plugin marketplace**
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin marketplace add anthropics/claude-plugins-community
```
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin install aws-startup-advisor@claude-community
```

## When to use it
- set up an AWS account and security baseline on day one
- estimate AWS costs before committing to a migration
- move infrastructure off Azure, GCP or Heroku
- rewrite LLM SDK calls for Amazon Bedrock
- check Terraform configs against common mistakes

## Example prompts
- Suggest an architecture for our stage and estimate the monthly AWS cost
- Migrate our Heroku infrastructure to AWS and generate the Terraform
- Rewrite our Anthropic SDK calls to the Converse API and evaluate quality on our dataset

# AWS Startups

> [!IMPORTANT]
> **This repository is deprecated.** Its plugins have moved to
> [**aws/agent-toolkit-for-aws**](https://github.com/aws/agent-toolkit-for-aws), which is the successor
> to the MCP servers, skills, and plugins AWS released under [AWS Labs](https://github.com/awslabs).
>
> `aws-startup-advisor` and `migration-to-aws` are no longer maintained here. Existing installations
> will keep working, but they will receive no further updates of any kind — no new features, no fixes.
> All development continues in the Agent Toolkit, so migrate to get anything beyond what is already
> installed. See [Where things moved](#where-things-moved) for the plugin-by-plugin mapping and
> updated install commands.

| **aws-startup-advisor** | [`aws-startup-advisor`](https://github.com/aws/agent-toolkit-for-aws/tree/main/plugins/aws-startup-advisor) | Moved as-is. All twelve skills are present in the Agent Toolkit copy. |
| **migration-to-aws** | [`aws-startup-advisor`](https://github.com/aws/agent-toolkit-for-aws/tree/main/plugins/aws-startup-advisor) | Folded in rather than ported separately — all seven of its skills ship inside `aws-startup-advisor`. Install that one plugin. |
| **aws-startups-solution-architecture** | No replacement yet                                                                                          | `agentcore-patterns`, `multi-tenant-isolation`, and `self-hosted-llm-batch-inference` have not moved. Keep using this repo.   |

### Why the Agent Toolkit

- **IAM condition keys** that distinguish agent actions from human actions, so a policy can allow read-only
  access through the MCP server even when the underlying role can write.
- **CloudWatch metrics and CloudTrail logging** for every request, so agent activity is monitorable and auditable.
- **End-to-end skill evaluations**, so workflows are verified to complete rather than assumed to.
