## What it does

The MCP tools let an agent browse NAS folders, search for files, transfer data, and rename, move, or copy items. It can also inspect pool usage, disk status, and recycle-bin contents. The `zs` command-line interface exposes these operations too.

Access goes through the logged-in ZSpace desktop client on macOS. Keep that client running; without it, the server cannot reach the NAS. To register the server with Claude Code, run `claude mcp add zspace-cli -- uvx zspace-cli`.

## Requirements
- Needs: Python and uv (commands run via uvx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add zspace-cli -- uvx zspace-cli
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from zspace-cli <command>

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add zspace-cli -- uvx zspace-cli
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from zspace-cli <command>

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "zspace-cli": {
            "command": "uvx",
            "args": [
                "zspace-cli"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from zspace-cli <command>

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "zspace-cli": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "uvx",
            "args": [
                "zspace-cli"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from zspace-cli <command>

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add zspace-cli uvx zspace-cli
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from zspace-cli <command>

## When to use it
- locate a NAS file by name
- upload a local file to ZSpace
- download a file from the NAS
- inspect pool usage and disk health
- restore an item from the recycle bin

## Example prompts
- Find the NAS file named “contract” and show its path.
- Upload `./report.pdf` to `/sata11/my/data`.
- Check storage usage for each pool.
