# Zikkaron

Zikkaron stores project context between sessions so an agent can retrieve past decisions. It fits workflows where you want Claude Code to pick up earlier work without a fresh explanation.

## What it does

Zikkaron keeps project memories in SQLite and exposes MCP tools to save and retrieve them. An agent can store a decision after a task, then look up project context in a later session. The server includes 24 MCP tools, runs locally, and uses a 22 MB embedding model.

Add it to Claude Code with `claude mcp add zikkaron -- uvx zikkaron`. The setup guide also describes syncing instructions into `~/.claude/CLAUDE.md` at startup. For automatic recall and storage, the agent needs to call the memory tools at the start of a session and after significant work.

## Requirements
- Needs: Python and uv (commands run via uvx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add zikkaron -- uvx zikkaron
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from zikkaron <command>

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add zikkaron -- uvx zikkaron
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from zikkaron <command>

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "zikkaron": {
            "command": "uvx",
            "args": [
                "zikkaron"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from zikkaron <command>

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "zikkaron": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "uvx",
            "args": [
                "zikkaron"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from zikkaron <command>

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add zikkaron uvx zikkaron
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from zikkaron <command>

## When to use it
- carry architecture decisions across sessions
- retrieve project context at startup
- look up details from earlier debugging
- save outcomes after completing a task

## Example prompts
- Remember that this project uses Postgres instead of SQLite.
- Recall what we decided about this project's structure.
- Get the project context before changing the authentication flow.
