## What it does

The server gives an agent tools to search and export tickets, fetch individual records, create tickets, and change fields or comments. It can also search for users and connect a Zendesk account. Ticket search uses Zendesk query syntax; exports use cursor-based pagination and are not subject to the search tool’s 1000-result cap.

It runs over stdio with `npx -y @mindstone/mcp-server-zendesk`. Node.js 20+ and npm are required. For a standalone setup, set `ZENDESK_CONFIG_PATH` and create an `accounts.json` file with the Zendesk subdomain, email address, and API token; OAuth is supported too. Customer-written ticket text is treated as external content, not as directions for the agent, which matters when processing requests.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- Environment variables: `ZENDESK_CONFIG_PATH`, `ZENDESK_CLIENT_ID`, `ZENDESK_CLIENT_SECRET` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.
