## What it does

Zapier MCP is hosted by Zapier. Any MCP-capable client points at a single URL, `https://mcp.zapier.com/api/v1/connect`, over `http` transport. From there the assistant can reach 9,000+ apps and 40,000+ actions: mail, spreadsheets, tickets, deals. You host nothing and write no code. SOC 2 Type II certification is stated.

The connection alone only opens the door to apps. The repo also ships a plugin in `plugins/zapier/` that walks you through setup, runs a demo, and adds role-specific skills. Install that from your client's marketplace; the server URL still has to be configured.

VS Code is the exception. It talks to the hosted server directly, no plugin involved. A Zapier account is required, because the server acts on your behalf there — with nothing connected, nothing runs. Which tools show up depends on the apps already wired into that account, so two people won't see the same set.
