# writbase

## What it does

writbase connects an agent to a persistent task registry over MCP. Worker agents can inspect, create, and update tasks with filters, search, and pagination. Manager agents can administer keys, permissions, projects, departments, webhooks, and provenance records.

The service runs through a Supabase Edge Function backed by Postgres. Access is scoped to a project and department, while version checks catch conflicting updates. Setup needs Node 18+, the Supabase CLI, a Supabase project, and an agent key. The key is shown once, so save it before configuring the client.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- Remote server: `https://{PROJECT_REF}.supabase.co/functions/v1/mcp-server/mcp`
- Environment variables: `WRITBASE_URL`, `WRITBASE_AGENT_KEY` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.

## When to use it
- keep one task registry for several agents
- limit access by project and department
- delegate work between agents
- trace who changed a task and why
- catch conflicting task updates

## Example prompts
- Create a task in `my-app` to fix the login bug and assign it to the backend agent.
- List high-priority tasks in `my-app`.
- Move the latest task to `in_progress` and use its current version.
