# WorkOS

The WorkOS MCP server lets an agent inspect and change workspace data, including organizations, users, and SSO. Use it to manage WorkOS through a coding assistant.

## What it does

The server gives an agent access to WorkOS operations through the API. It can read information such as organizations and users, and perform actions such as creating an organization or sending an invitation. Its operation catalog also covers SSO, Directory Sync, AuthKit, webhooks, and feature flags.

The agent inherits the permissions of your WorkOS account and handles one environment at a time, starting in a sandbox. Irreversible changes need explicit confirmation. That safeguard matters, but write operations still require an account role that permits them.

Connection uses OAuth 2.1. On first use, sign in and approve access; there’s no API key to paste. The server is hosted remotely, and team settings can restrict or disable MCP access.

```bash
gemini mcp add -t http mcp https://mcp.workos.com/mcp
```

## When to use it
- find organizations and users in WorkOS
- create an organization and invite its users
- inspect available operations and their parameters
- investigate an SSO sign-in problem
- adjust branding for an AuthKit sign-in page

## Example prompts
- Show me the WorkOS organizations available in this environment.
- Create an organization called Acme Corp and invite the people listed in `acme_employees.csv`.
- Look into why users in `org_123` are having trouble signing in with SSO.
