## What it does

This is a hosted service running at `https://api.whalesync.com/mcp` via Streamable HTTP, so no local repository build is required. It equips your coding agent with 24 dedicated tools to inspect connectors, map schema fields, and track sync health directly in chat.

Potentially destructive operations remain strictly guarded by humans. Starting an active pipeline, authorizing external apps, or approving deletions cannot happen autonomously; the assistant hands over a direct web URL to confirm each step.

Authentication relies on browser-driven OAuth 2.1 with PKCE instead of static API tokens. Running any sync command without an existing Whalesync workspace will halt until you sign in during the browser prompt.

## Requirements
- Remote server: `https://api.whalesync.com/mcp`

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
claude mcp add --transport http whalesync https://api.whalesync.com/mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
codex mcp add whalesync --url https://api.whalesync.com/mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "whalesync": {
            "url": "https://api.whalesync.com/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "whalesync": {
            "type": "http",
            "url": "https://api.whalesync.com/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
gemini mcp add -t http whalesync https://api.whalesync.com/mcp
```

## When to use it
- troubleshoot why a specific database record failed to sync
- map tables and attributes between two connected applications
- inspect unresolved pipeline issues and trigger automated retries
- pause or delete active data synchronizations

## Example prompts
- List all tables and fields available in my Postgres connector
- Check why the latest sync operation failed and retry the issue
- Validate the field mappings configured for this Airtable base
