## What it does

The server covers the lookup side of the game. Ask for a datasheet by name, get a keyword explained, or walk through a phase step by step. Search tools filter units by faction, ability text or points ceiling, up to four units can be compared in one answer, and a wound calculator works through re-rolls, invulnerable saves and Feel No Pain.

Unit, detachment and enhancement lookups serve eleventh edition unless you pass `game_mode: "40k_10e"`. Tenth edition data stays available. Turn sequences, core keywords and Core Stratagems come from the eleventh edition Core Rules; detachment stratagems are curated faction by faction, where a full Faction Pack entry overrides the Codex and the unrevised baseline applies elsewhere.

It runs through `npx`, so Node.js 18 or newer has to be on the machine. Ambiguous names trigger a faction list first, and same-faction variants ask for a `datasheet_id` — skip that and picking the right sheet is on you.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)

```bash
claude mcp add warhammer-oracle -- npx -y warhammer-oracle
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add warhammer-oracle -- npx -y warhammer-oracle
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "warhammer-oracle": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "warhammer-oracle"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "warhammer-oracle"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add warhammer-oracle npx -y warhammer-oracle
```

## When to use it
- pull a unit datasheet by name and faction
- explain a keyword such as Devastating Wounds
- work out expected damage against an invulnerable save
- line up two to four units side by side
- recall the step order of the shooting phase

## Example prompts
- Look up the Intercessor Squad datasheet and list its weapons
- Compare the Leman Russ and the Predator stat by stat
- Calculate damage for 10 attacks at BS3+, S5, AP-1 against a 4+ invulnerable save
