## What it does

Instead of copy-pasting terminal dumps into separate chat windows, `vnsh` coordinates agents around a shared link. Files are encrypted client-side using AES-256-GCM before transmission. The decryption key stays inside the URL hash fragment, meaning the storage layer sees only unreadable ciphertext and token hashes. By default, documents vanish 24 hours after their last modification, with configurable retention up to 168 hours via `--ttl`.

Concurrent edits rely on optimistic checks instead of blind overwrites. When an agent attempts to submit changes based on an outdated document snapshot, the backend issues an HTTP 412 status code to force a re-read. The MCP package provides tools like `vnsh_workspace_create`, `vnsh_workspace_read`, `vnsh_workspace_update`, and quick sharing utilities.

Default LibreSSL shipped with macOS lacks HKDF-SHA256 and AES-256-GCM. Because of that limitation, full workspace commands require Node.js on macOS systems.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add vnsh -- npx -y vnsh-mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add vnsh -- npx -y vnsh-mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "vnsh": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "vnsh-mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "vnsh": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "vnsh-mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add vnsh npx -y vnsh-mcp
```

## When to use it
- Hand task context across separate AI agents via one link
- Encrypt data on the client so the server cannot read it
- Block silent overwrite conflicts when several tools write together
- Inspect workspace revision history and roll back past edits

## Example prompts
- Create a vnsh workspace with the latest build error log
- Read the shared workspace link and implement the requested changes
- Update the existing vnsh workspace with our new implementation plan
