## What it does

The server runs over standard I/O and provides six specialized tools to inspect agent authorization. The primary handler, `verimand.resolve`, evaluates an agent identifier against an intended action and resource, generating a verifiable permit whenever access confirms `AUTHORITY_CONFIRMED`. Additional endpoints inspect active mandate metadata, pull trusted Agent DNA fingerprints, and evaluate issued permits via `verimand.verify_permit`.

Execution requires Node.js 22 or newer. This package handles authority decisions but does not act as an execution gateway, meaning enforcement around downstream tools remains the operator's responsibility.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add mcp-authority-server -- npx -y @verimand/mcp-authority-server
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add verimand-mcp-authority-server -- npx -y @verimand/mcp-authority-server
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "verimand-mcp-authority-server": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "@verimand/mcp-authority-server"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "verimand-mcp-authority-server": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "@verimand/mcp-authority-server"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add verimand-mcp-authority-server npx -y @verimand/mcp-authority-server
```

## When to use it
- verify whether an agent holds authority for an action
- validate existing VAGP execution permits against evidence
- retrieve server-side mandate metadata and bounds
- inspect trusted Agent DNA fingerprint records

## Example prompts
- Use `verimand.resolve` to check if `agent:demo-support` can run `ticket.read` on `ticket:123`
- Retrieve the registered agent fingerprint with `verimand.get_agent_dna`
- Validate our active execution permit using `verimand.verify_permit`
