# Typeship

Connects your agent to Typeship to build and maintain typed SDKs, CLIs, and MCP servers directly from OpenAPI or GraphQL specs.

## What it does

Typeship turns API contracts like OpenAPI and GraphQL into code targets, including client libraries and CLI binaries. The server keeps its interface minimal with three primary actions: `search_docs`, `read_docs`, and `execute`. The model inspects operation schemas and usage examples before sending payloads.

Parameter validation happens locally against the underlying schema. Mistyped fields return an immediate error with recovery steps. Running locally via `npx` demands Node.js 20 or newer, and the server fails immediately if `TYPESHIP_TOKEN` is missing from the environment. A hosted HTTP alternative is also available.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- Remote server: `https://typeship.dev/mcp`
- Environment variables: `TYPESHIP_TOKEN` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.

## When to use it
- generate typed SDKs from GraphQL or OpenAPI files
- build client CLIs and MCP servers from an API schema
- diagnose syntax and schema issues in API contracts
- restrict agent capabilities to safe operations with `--read-only`
