## What it does

The server links financial market data from Twelve Data with your assistant. It exposes real-time rates for equities, foreign exchange pairs, and digital assets. The tool also pulls price history, corporate earnings, dividend data, market headlines, and over 60 technical indicators.

Setup comes in two variants. The hosted endpoint at `https://mcp.twelvedata.com/mcp` works without local packages. It authenticates through a browser prompt via OAuth, linking your personal key automatically. The self-hosted route requires Python 3.10 or newer and a local `.env` file holding `TWELVE_DATA_API_KEY`. It communicates over standard I/O or an HTTP server on port 8000. Docker is supported too.

By default, the local HTTP process binds to `0.0.0.0` without access control, which risks exposing your credential across your network. Setting `MCP_HOST=127.0.0.1` keeps the traffic strictly local.
