## What it does

TrueSource exposes confirmed market occurrences rather than analyst opinions or trading advice. It tracks events that already took place: public procurement wins, corporate filings, research team expansions, and official releases from customs or statistics bureaus. Every record includes its date and source.

The server provides several tools for market analysis. Routine monitoring runs through `truesource_daily_brief` across a 3-day window, while `truesource_alert_signals` isolates events exceeding alert thresholds in the past 26 hours. Full research dossiers exist for 35 pre-built AI computing entities. For other A-share tickers, `truesource_scout` collects live intelligence on demand.

Keyless access is completely blocked. Without `HUNTER_API_KEY`, the upstream gateway returns a 403 error immediately. Live scouting triggers real web crawlers and Gemini lookups, meaning calls consume third-party API credits. Expect `truesource_scout` to take 30 to 60 seconds. Responses default to a ceiling of 40 records via `TRUESOURCE_MAX_ITEMS`.

## Requirements
- Needs: Python and uv (commands run via uvx)
- Environment variables: `HUNTER_API_KEY`, `TRUESOURCE_URL`, `TRUESOURCE_MAX_ITEMS` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add --env HUNTER_API_KEY=<HUNTER_API_KEY> --env TRUESOURCE_URL=<TRUESOURCE_URL> --env TRUESOURCE_MAX_ITEMS=<TRUESOURCE_MAX_ITEMS> --transport stdio truesource-mcp -- uvx truesource-mcp
```
Replace <…> with your own values. uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from truesource-mcp <command>

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add truesource-mcp --env HUNTER_API_KEY=<HUNTER_API_KEY> --env TRUESOURCE_URL=<TRUESOURCE_URL> --env TRUESOURCE_MAX_ITEMS=<TRUESOURCE_MAX_ITEMS> -- uvx truesource-mcp
```
Replace <…> with your own values. uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from truesource-mcp <command>

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "truesource-mcp": {
            "command": "uvx",
            "args": [
                "truesource-mcp"
            ],
            "env": {
                "HUNTER_API_KEY": "<HUNTER_API_KEY>",
                "TRUESOURCE_URL": "<TRUESOURCE_URL>",
                "TRUESOURCE_MAX_ITEMS": "<TRUESOURCE_MAX_ITEMS>"
            }
        }
    }
}
```
Replace <…> with your own values. uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from truesource-mcp <command>

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "truesource-mcp": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "uvx",
            "args": [
                "truesource-mcp"
            ],
            "env": {
                "HUNTER_API_KEY": "<HUNTER_API_KEY>",
                "TRUESOURCE_URL": "<TRUESOURCE_URL>",
                "TRUESOURCE_MAX_ITEMS": "<TRUESOURCE_MAX_ITEMS>"
            }
        }
    }
}
```
Replace <…> with your own values. uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from truesource-mcp <command>

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add -e HUNTER_API_KEY=<HUNTER_API_KEY> -e TRUESOURCE_URL=<TRUESOURCE_URL> -e TRUESOURCE_MAX_ITEMS=<TRUESOURCE_MAX_ITEMS> truesource-mcp uvx truesource-mcp
```
Replace <…> with your own values. uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from truesource-mcp <command>

## When to use it
- retrieve verified government contract awards
- pull official customs and statistics bureau macro releases
- filter ticker alert signals from the past 26 hours
- run live market data collection for A-share companies

## Example prompts
