## What it does

Transit MCP connects language models to public transit feeds across New York, Washington DC, and the San Francisco Bay Area. It exposes 18 tools, including `plan_trip`, `get_departures`, and `get_service_status`. The server retrieves data directly from MTA, WMATA, and 511 SF Bay feeds, covering subways, commuter rail, buses, and ferry networks.

The server runs via Streamable HTTP at `https://transitmcp.com/mcp`. No API keys are required. The routing engine resolves station name typos and complex multi-line hubs. It also supports accessible navigation with the `step_free` parameter, filtering out stations where elevators are currently out of service according to live agency reports.

Coverage is strictly limited to the three supported metropolitan regions.
