## What it does

The server hands your assistant a set of Scriptivox tools: speech recognition from a public link or a local file, speaker diarization, word-level timestamps, 119 languages. You also get CRUD over your transcriptions — cancel, delete, list — and caption export as SRT, WebVTT or plain text.

It speaks stdio, and the transcription tools need `SCRIPTIVOX_API_KEY` in the form `sk_live_...`. Without a key you still get the discovery tools: supported languages, pricing, API docs. The local package is marked retired as of 12 October 2026 and no longer receives new tools — 23 of them exist only in the hosted build. For a fresh setup, connect `https://platform.scriptivox.com/mcp` and sign in through the browser instead.

Clients that can only launch local servers can bridge to the hosted one with `npx mcp-remote https://platform.scriptivox.com/mcp`. Keep the local package around if you need `transcribe_upload` for files sitting on your disk.

## When to use it
- pull the text out of a podcast episode straight from its link
- transcribe a meeting recording with speakers separated
- export a finished transcript as SRT captions
- check the status of recent transcriptions
- cancel a job before it starts and get the reserved balance back
