Connects hosted video transcoding and captioning to your AI agent. Delivers multi-bitrate streams from prompt instructions without risking accidental file deletion.

## What it does

Transcodely runs entirely as a remote HTTP service, so there are no local binaries or encoders to manage. The agent takes a direct video link, builds an adaptive bitrate stream, and returns a ready playback link. Its surface exposes fifteen tools. Nine functions only fetch status reports and euro cost metrics, four start new work, and two update presets or spending limits.

The server intentionally omits dangerous operations. No tool can remove a file or cancel an ongoing job. Updating the monthly budget is restricted to organization owners through browser OAuth. Any agent trying to adjust spend limits with a plain API key gets rejected immediately.

## Requirements
- Remote server: `https://mcp.transcodely.com/mcp`

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
claude mcp add --transport http mcp https://mcp.transcodely.com/mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
codex mcp add transcodely --url https://mcp.transcodely.com/mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "transcodely": {
            "url": "https://mcp.transcodely.com/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "transcodely": {
            "type": "http",
            "url": "https://mcp.transcodely.com/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
gemini mcp add -t http transcodely https://mcp.transcodely.com/mcp
```

## When to use it
- transcode remote video files into adaptive bitrate streams
- generate captions for hosted videos using AI
- track encoding job progress and monthly spend in euros
- set monthly spend thresholds to prevent budget overruns

## Example prompts
- Ingest the video from the remote source and give me a streamable link using `create_video_from_url`.
- Generate captions for hosted video `vid_123` with the `generate_captions` tool.
- Check the status and error logs for job `job_456` using `get_job_status`.
