# tachibot-mcp

An MCP server that puts 67 tools across 11 model providers behind one protocol. Useful when you want a second model's opinion without leaving Claude or Cursor.

## What it does

TachiBot runs on Node.js and exposes tools for reasoning, web search, diff review, brainstorming and long-form writing. Each one routes to a provider of your choice. Judging is its own branch: `jev_decide` returns a yes/no, a pick or a score as a calibrated probability, and YAML workflow steps can branch on that number.

Which model answers is set by environment variables such as `TACHI_PLANNER_TIER`, `TACHI_JURY_OPENAI_MODEL` and `TACHI_GEMINI_PRO_MODEL`. A reply that came from a backup model is labelled at the start with `[degraded: ...]`, so you can see when the primary was missing. `TACHI_MODEL_FALLBACK=off` drops backups altogether; running out of credits does not trigger one. Workflow steps stay fenced in: profile-enabled tools only, files under the working directory, no `..`, no symlink escapes, no `.env` or keys.

You need Node.js 22.0.0 or later plus API keys for the providers you plan to reach. The install line passes five: `PERPLEXITY_API_KEY`, `GROK_API_KEY`, `OPENAI_API_KEY`, `GOOGLE_API_KEY`, `OPENROUTER_API_KEY`. Drop a key and the matching tools go dark, so pick the providers you actually use instead of copying the full list.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- Environment variables: `PERPLEXITY_API_KEY`, `GROK_API_KEY`, `OPENAI_API_KEY`, `GOOGLE_API_KEY`, `OPENROUTER_API_KEY`, `TACHIBOT_PROFILE` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add tachibot-mcp -e PERPLEXITY_API_KEY=<PERPLEXITY_API_KEY> -e GROK_API_KEY=<GROK_API_KEY> -e OPENAI_API_KEY=<OPENAI_API_KEY> -e GOOGLE_API_KEY=<GOOGLE_API_KEY> -e OPENROUTER_API_KEY=<OPENROUTER_API_KEY> -- npx -y tachibot-mcp
```
Replace <…> with your own values. 1 more environment variable is in the server README

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add tachibot-mcp --env PERPLEXITY_API_KEY=<PERPLEXITY_API_KEY> --env GROK_API_KEY=<GROK_API_KEY> --env OPENAI_API_KEY=<OPENAI_API_KEY> --env GOOGLE_API_KEY=<GOOGLE_API_KEY> --env OPENROUTER_API_KEY=<OPENROUTER_API_KEY> -- npx -y tachibot-mcp
```
Replace <…> with your own values. 1 more environment variable is in the server README

### Cursor

## When to use it
- get a second model's take on the same question
- compare diff reviews from several providers
- draft a researched long article in one call
- branch a YAML workflow on a probabilistic judge answer
- swap the planner model without touching code

## Example prompts
- Run this diff through `diff_review` and list what it flags
- Draft an article on this topic with `blog_writer` and `research: true`
- Ask `jev_decide` whether the answer is grounded in the sources
