## What it does

Synaplan is an open-source PHP/Symfony platform you run yourself. It gives you chat with any model, search across uploaded documents, and an embeddable widget. The MCP server exposes that to agents like Claude, Codex, and Cursor.

It speaks HTTP at `https://web.synaplan.com/mcp`. For Claude the whole setup is one line: `claude mcp add --transport http synaplan https://web.synaplan.com/mcp`. Cursor and GitHub Copilot take the same URL in their config files. To run your own instance, clone the repo and use `make up`, then open `http://localhost:5173`.

Nothing works until a Synaplan instance is up, so start the platform or point at the hosted one first. The demo mode covers 40 messages a day for 14 days with no API key; after that you bring your own provider key or a local Ollama model.

## Requirements
- Needs: Docker
- Remote server: `https://web.synaplan.com/mcp`

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
claude mcp add --transport http synaplan https://web.synaplan.com/mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
codex mcp add synaplan --url https://web.synaplan.com/mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "synaplan": {
            "url": "https://web.synaplan.com/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "synaplan": {
            "type": "http",
            "url": "https://web.synaplan.com/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
gemini mcp add -t http synaplan https://web.synaplan.com/mcp
```

## When to use it
- pull the right passage out of uploaded docs by meaning, not keywords
- give an agent access to an internal knowledge base without shipping it out
- keep context alive across agent sessions
- compare what each model's answer actually cost
- stand up an AI workspace on your own server with one command

## Example prompts
- Search my documents for the refund policy and quote the relevant paragraph
- Remember that this project uses Symfony and PostgreSQL
- Ask Synaplan what the last answer cost
