# svelte-llm-mcp

An MCP server that feeds Svelte 5 and SvelteKit documentation to your coding assistant, so it stops guessing at the API.

## What it does

The server exposes a reference for Svelte 5 and SvelteKit over Model Context Protocol. Your assistant pulls the section it needs while writing a component or working through routing. Handy when the project is already on Svelte 5 and the model keeps mixing up runes with older syntax.

Clients connect over Streamable HTTP at `https://svelte-llm.stanislav.garden/mcp/mcp`. Older clients that lack Streamable support can use the SSE endpoint `https://svelte-llm.stanislav.garden/mcp/sse`. It runs remotely, so there is nothing to host locally.

Running your own copy takes a Classic GitHub token with `public_repo` scope, a `.env` file holding `GITHUB_TOKEN` and `DB_URL`, Docker and PostgreSQL. Without the token the local build will not start.

## Requirements
- Remote server: `https://svelte-llm.stanislav.garden/mcp/mcp`

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
claude mcp add --transport http svelte-llm-mcp https://svelte-llm.stanislav.garden/mcp/mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
codex mcp add svelte-llm-mcp --url https://svelte-llm.stanislav.garden/mcp/mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "svelte-llm-mcp": {
            "url": "https://svelte-llm.stanislav.garden/mcp/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "svelte-llm-mcp": {
            "type": "http",
            "url": "https://svelte-llm.stanislav.garden/mcp/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
gemini mcp add -t http svelte-llm-mcp https://svelte-llm.stanislav.garden/mcp/mcp
```

## When to use it
- get current Svelte 5 runes syntax into a generated component
- look up SvelteKit file-based routing instead of trusting the model's memory
- check how `$state` and `$derived` behave before editing reactive code
- find the API reference for a component you are about to change

## Example prompts
- Check the SvelteKit docs for how to declare `+page.server.ts` with a data load
- Look up in the Svelte 5 reference how to bind `$state` to an input field
- Find in the docs how `$effect` differs from `onMount`
